Gellerman, Creel, Niebrugge earn Tour status for 2019

Former University of Oklahoma golfer Michael Gellerman shot 25-under par to finish tied for third in the Tour Qualifying Tournament in Chandler, Ariz., earning his Tour card for 2019.

Danny Walker shot 27 under to win the event, one shot better than Norman Xiong. Gellerman, who opened with an even-par 72, closed with rounds of 60-63-68 to finish in a group of five in third place.

Also earning cards by finishing in the top 40 were former Oklahoma State golfer Jordan Niebrugge and Josh Creel of Edmond, who tied for 34th at 18-under.

Among other golfers with Oklahoma ties former OU golfer Charlie Saxon of Tulsa tied for 74th at 14 under; former OU golfers Grant Hirschman and Will Kropp tied for 100th at 11 under; Nick Heinen of OSU and Edmond tied for 115th at 8 under; Blake Trimble of Edmond tied for 118th at 8 under and former OSU golfer Kristoffer Ventura tied for 129th at 2 under.

The Final Stage of the Tour Qualifying Tournament marks the last qualifying stage for the 2019 Tour season. Players are competing for status on the 2019 Tour. The medalist (or co-medalists) will be fully-exempt status next year, while finishers Nos. 2-10 (and ties) will be subject to the third reshuffle (12 guaranteed starts). Players Nos. 11-40 (and ties) will be subject to the second reshuffle (eight guaranteed starts).
