Hennessee wins PGA Junior Championship qualifier

Final results

Will Hennessee of Tulsa shot a final-round 65 to grab one of two spots available for the PGA Junior Championship at a qualifier last week at Golf Club of Muskogee.

Hennessee, the reigning Class 5A state champion, finished at 6-under 136, a shot ahead of Noah Holtzman of Wichita, who also qualified. Hennessee opened with a 71 before closing at 6-under 65. Holtzman shot rounds of 69-68 to finish one stroke ahead of Mason Haley of Enid (69-69).

The two girls qualifiers were sisters Emerie Schartz and Avery Schartz of Wichita. Emerie finished at 7-under (66-69) while Avery finished 1-under (72-69) on the par-71 course.

The 2023 PGA Junior Championship is at Hot Springs Country Club in Hot Springs, Ark., on Aug. 1-4.
