Jed Day, who helped Dave Stockton win 1970 PGA Championship at Southern HiIls, passes away

Jed Day, long-time Tulsa banker and golf enthusiast who caddied for Dave Stockton in his 1970 PGA Championship victory at Southern Hills, passed away Aug. 11 at age 69.

Joseph Edward Day, Jr. “Jed”, Tulsa resident, age 69, signed his final scorecard early morning, Saturday, August 11, 2018, with family by his side.

Jed was born on March 30, 1949, in Tulsa, OK. He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Jed was an avid golfer and was a member of the OU golf team during his time in college. These bonds helped to cement his lifelong loyalty to OU. He enjoyed traveling, mainly to the gulf coast, with his wife and kids and has always been a devoted dog lover.

Jed’s community service included Chairman positions with Operation Aware and Make a Wish Foundation and involvement with Leadership Tulsa and Rotary. He also taught banking at Rogers State College.

He leaves many loving memories with his family: wife, Leslie, sons, Christopher and wife Ginger, Robert and wife Stephanie, and his grandsons, Conner, Griffin, Gunnison, Joseph, and Bobby; as well several bothers and sisters-in-law as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces that were there for him throughout this journey.
