Kilcrease, Roller pace TU women in first round at Nexus Collegiate

NEW PROVIDENCE, Bahamas –– In first round action at the Nexus Collegiate, the Tulsa women golfers sit in sixth place with a 10-over par score of 298 at the par-72 Albany Golf Club.

Tulsa sophomores Grace Kilcrease and Jenni Roller are tied for 15th place with 1-over par scores of 73.

Kentucky leads after first round action with a 3-under par 285, followed by host Texas Tech (290), North Texas (291), Iowa State (292) and fifth-place Illinois (293). Tulsa is tied with Mississippi State and Houston for the sixth-place spot.

Kilcrease had three birdies and an eagle on the par-4 sixth hole, while Roller tallied four birdies and eagled the sixth hole as well. She closed out the round with her two final birdies coming on holes 17 and 18.

Redshirt freshman Allyn Stephens and graduate newcomer Sirah Steinhoff each carded rounds of 4-over par 76 to tie 31st place. Junior Lovisa Gunnar was two shots back at 78 for 46th place.

Playing as an individual, freshman Norah Seidl finished with an 86 for 64th place.

Kentucky’s Laney Frey’s 68 put her in first place individually.

Second round action takes place Tuesday with the final round set for Wednesday.
