Manley, Blonien go low to win OJGT’s Beast of the East
Benton Manley of Tulsa and Natalie Blonien of Altus played exceptional golf in winning the Beast of the East event on the Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour concluding Sunday on the East Course at Lincoln Park in Oklahoma City.
Manly shot rounds of 64-65 for an 11-under 129 on the par-70 layout. That was four shots better than the 133 compiled by Grant Gudgel of Stillwater (64-69). Collin Bond of Norman (68-67), Sam Morris of Tulsa (70-65) and Josh Stuart of Blanchard (68-67) tied for third at 5-under 135.
Also notable in the talent-laden field were the top 20 finishes of two 12-year-olds making their OJGT debuts. Emerson Majma of Edmond shot rounds of 67-74 to finish at 1-over, while Chase Hughes of Oklahoma City shot 72-70. Both will help anchor Team Oklahoma in the upcoming PGA Jr. League National Championship.
Blonien shot rounds of 68-67 to finish at 5-under, five shots ahead of Avery Schartz of Wichita (71-69). Lucy Darr of Stillwater was third at 143 (73-70), followed by Syrah Javed of Norman at 145 (73-72) and Emerie Schartz of Wichita at 146 (72-74).
