Raychel Nelke, a rising junior at Pocola High School and the current 2020 Women’s Oklahoma Golf Association Junior Champion, announced her commitment to the University of Oklahoma on her Instagram page today.
Nelke is one of the top juniors in Oklahoma and ranked 321st nationally by the American Junior Golf Association and 304th by Junior Golf Scoreboard. In addition to the WOGA Junior Championship, she won the first Junior Masters event at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa this summer.
Nelke has experienced success on both the AJGA circuit and the Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour. She did not play high school golf as a freshman while preparing to compete in the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship for which she qualified with Bailey Dunstan of Little Rock. Her sophomore season was wiped out by COVID-19.
The Sooners are coached by Veronique Drouin-Luttrell and have had success with other in-state golfers recently, including junior Kaitlin Milligan of Norman and recently graduated Sydney Youngblood of Durant.
