ORU takes fifth in The Clerico, OU’s Lorenz fires 65, wins playoff to earn spot in Korn Ferry Tour event
Oral Roberts University finished fifth in the team competition as it hosted the final round of The Clerico Tuesday at Cedar Ridge Country Club. The individual race was quite the Bedlam battle, as Ben Lorenz of Oklahoma, playing as an individual, fired a final-round 65 to overtake Preston Stout of Oklahoma State and tie Hunter Bott of Texas-San Antonio, who closed with a 66.
Lorenz then won a four-hole playoff with Bott to earn the automatic entry to the Compliance Solutions Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour that is provided to this event by Compliance Solutions title sponsor Mark Lammert. The 2024 event will be June 20-23 at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course in Norman.
Lorenz and Bott both finished at 13-under 202 while Stout was a shot back at 12-under after rounds of 65-68-70.
Little Rock won the team title at 852, a shot ahead of Michigan at 853. ORU was 12 shots back at 864, led by Jackson Drake in sixth place at 5-under 211 (69-71-71). Presten Richardson and Rocco Repetto Taylor tied for 21st at 1-over 217.
Other individuals in the top 25 were Jaxon Dowell of Oklahoma, tied for 11th at 2-under 214, John Wild of OSU, tied for 16th at 215 and Kevin An of ORU, tied for 21st at 1-over 217.
