Roller wins St. Louis qualifier to advance to U.S. Junior Girls Championship

Jenni Roller of Jenks shot a 1-under 71 to win a qualifier for the 2022 U.S. Girls Junior Championship held Tuesday at Sunset Country Club in St. Louis. Roller grabbed one of two spots available for the championship which is schedule July 18-23 at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Ky.

Emma Thompson of McKinney, Texas earned the other spot in the field of 23 girls with an even-par 72. Roller had three birdies and two bogeys in her round of 71.

Kate Strickland of Edmond shot 76 and Olivia Coit of Edmond shot 82.

Roller won the St. Louis qualifier a year ago to advance to the U.S. Junior Girls Championship.

She has been on a tear in Oklahoma this spring, capturing the Class 3A State Championship, winning the Oklahoma Junior Masters at Southern Hills and dominating the OGA Stroke Play and Match Play Junior Amateurs.

She will attend the University of Tulsa in the fall.

In a boys qualifier at the same site, Will Sides of Tulsa finished tied for fourth with the top two players advancing. Sides lost a playoff with Connor Hamm of Illinois to be the second alternate.
