William Sides of Tulsa finished tied for second in the 103rd Western Junior Championship which concluded Thursday at the Onwetsia Club in Lake Forest, Ill.
Caleb Surratt of Matthews, N.C., won the event at 3-under, the only player in the field to break par. Sides, who will be a senior at Cascia Hall and is committed to play his collegiate golf at Southern Methodist, shot rounds of 69-73-68-71 to finish second at 1-over alongside Yuze Zang of Windemere, Fla.
Jordan Wilson of Edmond, an incoming freshman at Oklahoma State, tied for 14th at 7 over. Ryder Cowan of Edmond tied for 38th. Jake Hopper of Norman and Ben Stoller of Owasso also competed but did not make the cut.
Surratt, Sides and Zhang all earned exemptions into the Western Amateur at Glen View Club in Golf, Illinois, to be held July 26-31. Surratt joined Collin Morikawa, Rickie Fowler and Jim Furyk as a Western Junior champion.
