Tourinho edges Seitz to win Yamaha Match Play Championship

Andre Tourinho of Southern Hills Country Club defended his title in the PGA South Central Section’s Yamaha Match Play Championship Wednesday with a 1 up victory over Riley Seitz of Reflection Ridge Golf Club in Wichita. The match play championship was held at Wichita Country Club.

Tourinho won his semifinal match Wednesday morning 2 and 1 over Aaron Kristopeit of Lincoln Park Golf Course in Oklahoma City. Seitz advanced with a 2 and 1 victory over Tim Fleming of Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club, a multiple year champion in this event.

Tourinho had tied for low qualifier with Jett Johnson of Quail Creek Golf & Country Club at 1-under par 70 in Monday morning’s stroke play qualifier, held in winds gusting up to 40 mph. The second and third rounds of match play were held Tuesday, also in strong winds. All results are here. 

“I’m mentally exhausted after playing two rounds a day for three days in these winds,” Tourinho said. “I played really solid today, was probably 3-under on my ball in the final match. But Riley was tough, he kept hitting great shot after great shot.”

After Tourinho went 2 up with a par on No. 10, Riley got a hole back on 11 and both players matched scores from holes 12 on, including birdies by both on holes 14 and 16.

Tourinho, who played collegiately at the University of Tulsa, also won the South Central Section Professional Championship in 2025 and has developed into one of the section’s top playing professionals. The South Central Section covers all of Oklahoma, Arkansas and the southern half of Kansas.
