Tseng, Greb lead Tulsa to victory in Texas State Invitational

KYLE, Texas –– In just the second event of the season, the Tulsa women golfers captured the team championship at the Texas State Invitational on Tuesday with an overall 5-under par score of 859 at the par-72 Plum Creek Golf Course.

Behind top-4 finishes from Lorena Tseng and Haley Greb the Hurricane held off a final day surge by UTSA. Tulsa had a final round 5-over par 293, while the Roadrunners turned in a 7-under par 281 and finished two strokes behind the Hurricane at 861.

Tseng finished in second place overall with a 12-under par score of 204, while Greb placed fourth overall with a 6-under par 210 total. The runner-up finish for Tseng was her ninth top-5 finish in 21 career tournaments, while the 4th place performance for Greb was her career-best, including two seasons at Colorado State.

Tseng and Greb each carded final round scores of 2-under par 70 on Tuesday to pace the Hurricane.

Individual champion, Sam Houston’s Hanna Alberto, carded a final round 4-under par for a 15-udner par total of 201.

Tulsa sophomore Lilly Thomas turned in a career-best 16th place finish as she totaled a score of 221. Thomas shot a final round of 77 after closing the second round in the morning with a 2-under par 70.

Senior Taylor Dobson placed 38th overall and freshman Tita Loudtragulngam finished in 48thplace. Dobson had a final round 76 and finished with a score of 227, while Loudtragulngam closed out the tournament with an overall score of 231 and 78 for the final 18 holes.

Rounding out the top-5 schools were Sam Houston State (872), Texas State (874) and UCA (882).

Tulsa will be back in action next week, Mon-Tues, Feb. 14-15, at the Rebel Beach Invitational in Las Vegas, Nevada.
