Uihlein, Moore provide state professional highlights this weekend
Led by Peter Uihlein’s torrid two-week stretch, players with Oklahoma ties continued to make their mark on professional golf this weekend.
A week after winning on the Korn Ferry Tour, Uihlein teammed with Richy Werenski to finish in third place at the two-man Zurich Classic in New Orleans. Each pocketed $285,825.
Back on the Korn Ferry Tour, it was Taylor Moore of Edmond who stepped up this week with a solo third place finish in the Veritex Bank Classic at Texas Rangers Golf Club in Arlington, Texas.
Moore closed with a 65 Sunday to shoot 20-under par and finish three shots behind winner Tyson Alexander. Tulsa native Charlie Saxon tied for 11th at 18-under. First-round leader Anders Albertson, son of Tulsa businessman Scott Albertson, tied for 20th at 16-under, while Max McGreevy of Edmond was tied for 28th at 14-under.
Josh Creel of Edmond, who shot three rounds in the 60s with a 70 his worst and finished at 10-under, was in 53rd place. It’s go deep or bust on the Korn Ferry Tour.
