Winans, Screen lead Sooners at Westbrook Invitational
PEORIA, Ariz. – Libby Winans and Hannah Screen each tallied top-15 finishes at the Westbrook Invitational and Oklahoma finished in a tie for eighth (4-over 868) at the Westbrook Villages Golf Club.
Winans, who entered the day third after back-to-back rounds of 69, finished the back nine with a 1-over 37 and moved back to even after a birdie on her final hole of the tournament.
She finished with a 6-under 210 and it marked her first top-5 finish since her tie for fourth at the 2020 Longhorn Invitational. Winans finished tied for the third-best average on par 3s (3.00).
“Libby, Hannah and Kaylee each had a great week out in the desert,” said Oklahoma women’s golf head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. “They all have put in a lot of time and effort over the winter break and to see it payoff is always exciting.”
Screen opened the tournament with a career-low 67 and entered the final 18 tied for 15th. She finished with a 2-under 34 on the back nine and finished the front nine even for a 2-under 70. Screen earned a 13th-place finish with a 3-under 213 and it was her first top-15 finish of the season.
Kaylee Vesely, Oklahoman’s lone individual in the field, recorded an even-par 72 in her final round and finished tied for 17th with a 1-under 215. She tallied her first top-20 finish of her career.
Maria Fernanda Martinez (T52 | +7, 223), Nina Lang (T61 | +9, 225) and Meagan Winans (T71 | +15, 231) rounded out the Oklahoma lineup.
The Sooners finished with the sixth-best average on par 5s (4.82, -11).
